Balmy and spooky
Well, that was about the loveliest Halloween night ever. In the 60s, no breeze, a light cloud cover that kept the sky a deep purple. Just gorgeous. Lots of kids came by, while ours were out plundering the better neighborhoods, where it was rumored that full-sized candy bars are given out (turns out to be true!). Me, I put on a pair of fairy wings, sat on the stoop and handed out candy all night while fiddling with my camera. At the end of the evening, Lee brought me a cup of hot cider. We didn’t even run out of candy (though for a while there it looked like we’d be known as the house that gave out packs of snack crackers, our only fall-back, and a sure candidate for egging).
