Misc. Notes
I now suspect that “Harold” was in fact “Carrol,” a typical mis-hearing in writing up Louis’s obituary.
I get his name from Louis's obit...there are pictures of Halls in the collection, one from the Phillippines...we couldn't figure out why they were there. Apparently another half-brother.
Gazette had an obit 3/5/97 for a Harold L. Hall of Greenfield Center, former Saratoga County Clerk and Coroner...It's possible, though unlikely, he's the same person, so here's the obit:
GREENFIELD CENTER -- Former Saratoga County Clerk Harold L. Hall, 92, of Locust Grove Road, died Monday (3/3) at Saratoga Hospital after a short illness. Born in Greenfield Center, Mr. Hall was a graduate of the local rural school and Albany Business College. In 1924, he became the owner of Brookside Dairy Farm. Mr. Hall was a longtime member and former officer of the Saratoga County Republican Party; a charter member of the Greenfield Fire Dept.; former chief of Company 4 of the Greenfield Fire District; a member of the Greenfield Union Free Board of Education; past president and director of the Saratoga County AGricultural Society and County Fair; past president of the Saratoga County Farm Bureau; an officer of the Saratoga County Extension Service and 4-H; and a member of the Saratoga Springs YMCA, Greenfield Grange and Saratoga County Pamona Grange. He was also a member of the Greenfield Baptist Church. Mr. Hall was a member of St. John's Free and Accepted Masons, from which he recently received a 70-year member pin; St. John's Greenfield Chapter, and the Saratoga Springs Washington Commandery. In 1961, Mr. Hall was appointed Saratoga County Coroner, an office he served in for seven years. In 1968, he was the Republican candidate for Saratoga County Clerk. Subsequently, in the elections of 1968, 1971 and 1974, he won, serving until retiring in 1977. His wife, Emily Varney Hall, whom he married July 6, 1927, died in 1984. Survivors include a son, Harold C. "Sonny" Hall of Greenfield Center; a daughter, Jean Davis of Greenfield Center; and seven grandchildren. ... Burial will be in Greenfield Center Cemetery....”
Most likely a relative, at least.
