FatherNorman PECK (1815-1866)
Misc. Notes
In the 1870 Federal Census, he was living in the house of James and Antoinette Doty in Jay, along with his wife Angeline and Lizzie and Alva (cousin). He was 21, a laborer.29

In 1890 Federal Census, he was reported as having been a private in Company A of the 48th NY Infantry, enlisting in Feb 1865 and discharged in Sep 1865, served 7 months. His disability was listed as rheumatism.74 There was such a Lyman Peck listed in that Regiment.277 So I’m not sure it’s the same Lyman Peck. The recruitment area for that Company was Brooklyn. Lyman A. Peck is listed by National Park Service Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System, private in Co. F of the 91st Regiment, NY Infantry.277 The recruitment area for the 91st was Albany, which makes more sense. Still, it left the state in 1862, when he would have been 14.

Also listed were a Lyman H with the 95 and 96th, and a Lyman P. with the 120th.

Misc. Notes
Correspondent Sharon Marcotte reported her birthdate as 1847, which would have made her a year older than Lyman. She reported her own age as 19 (1849) in 1870, when she had a new child. There might have been incentive to make herself older.

In the 1920 Federal census, she is she is living with Mabel Mickle (sp?), listed as her mother, is 68 and widowed. She reports she can read and write, and was born in Vermont. Her father and mother were both from Canada, and their native tongue was French.3
