17This was the Aunt Minnie that we visited at a nursing home in Gloversville in the 1960s.
There is a note in the Utica NY Daily Press, Sept. 21, 1910, in the Unadilla Forks section:
“Minnie Mason of Albany is visiting her sister, Mrs. T.P. King.” May not be related, but the King name made it worthy of note.
Newspaper article
Amsterdam Evening Recorder, April 20, 1907:
Glenwood Rebekah lodge of Schenectady and Oak Leaf Rebekah lodge of this city were entertained last evening at Odd Fellows’ temple by Locust Rebekah lodge, No. 351. Rebekahs from Hornellsville and Waterford were also present and the total number in attendance was 225.
The regular meeting of Locust lodge was held and seven candidates were initiated. Speeches were made by a number of the visiting Rebekahs. Following the business meeting a banquet was served and the evening passed in a most enjoyable manner. The committee in charge was composed of Mrs. Minnie Mason, Mrs. Luman Folmsbee and Mrs. Samuel Doak.
(There are other references to her membership with the Rebekahs).
In an article in the Amsterdam Evening Recorder, Nov. 13, 1931, she is listed among the members of the Pythian Sisters, Woodbernunda Temple No. 44.
A 1928 article may be about another person, or confuses the family situation further:
“Harvey Lettice returned home Sunday after spending a few days with his sister, Mrs. Minnie Mason.”
