Per his marker (photograph in Jos. Peck book), served Company A, 15th N.Y. Cavalry96

In the 1890 Federal Census, he was reported as having enlisted as a private in Company E, 16th NY Infantry on May 15, 1861, and was discharged May 22, 1863, serving 2 years and 7 days. “Remarks: Reenlisted 3 years more.” Second set of dates were given as 1863 and 1866, service time as 3 years. For the first enlistment, his post office as given as Malone; curiously, the second one, on the next line and linked by a pencil mark, gave his post office as Bellmont Centre.74
