Misc. Notes
“Joshua Peck, son of Alvah and Dorthea (Hathaway) Peck, was born and raised in Jay, new York. He married Mary Elizabeth Gibbons about 1854. She was the daughter of Maurice Gibbons and was born in England about 1838. Joshua made his living as a laborer and also as a forge worker. He and his family were recorded in the towns of Keene, Jay and Crown Point throughout the years. Most likely they went where the jobs were available. Mary Elizabeth died on February 7, 1881 in Crown Point, New York and was buried there. Joshua at the age of 71 was recorded in North Elba, New York as a teamster in 1900.”

145In 1855, he was living in Jay, not far from Lyman Peck. He was 25, had lived in Jay all his life, and was listed as a “bloomer,” a preparer of iron blooms, probably at the Rogers Forge in Jay. With him were his wife Mary and daughter Ella.
187In 1870, he was living in Jay, age 42, “works in forge.”
29 With him were Elizabeth and Genett. Genett may or may not be the same as Ella who was listed in the 1855 census, or perhaps Ella died and Genett was born in 1855.
