Misc. Notes
“Clark A. Peck, son of Dillavan and Serepity (Ripley) Peck was born in the town of Jay. Clark never knew his father, seeing that he was only a year old in 1864 when he went off to war and never returned. As a young man, Clark moved from town to town throughout Clinton and Essex County working wherever he could. After his older brother Joshua died in 1891 he lived with his sister-in-law Zelida for a few years, probably to help out with supporting his nieces and nephews. Because of this, Zelida’s children always thought of him as their older brother. Clark joined the Salvation Army and was enrolled in Plattsburgh in February 1905. he signed the enlistment papers as Alfus C. Peck and was listed as living at 23 Peru St. He was promoted to Color Sergeant on June 8, 1910 and was responsible for the flags and banners during all parades and assemblies. he was removed from his service on January 9, 1913. The only reason stated on the records was the changing of churches. His family said he went out west and was never heard from again.”96

He was living with Zelida (Ida) Peck in 1892.39

In the 1901 Manning Plattsburgh City Directory there is a “Peck, Clark, laborer, bds 29 Peru.”
