Misc. Notes
In the 1860 census, Stephen Martin is 33, living in Brandon, Franklin County, a farmer with real estate worth $300 and personal estate of $150. He cited his birthplace as New York. With him are wife Roxy R., daughter Mary, a farm laborer named Alison C. Merrell, and a servant named Joanna Johnson.23

He is sandwiched between William Johnson and Jesse Corey.

Stephen and Roxy play in the land deals involving Harriet Graham and John and Nancy Dukett.

Merrell (Merrill?) may or may not be related to Roxy, could be a brother. I have no confirmation of her maiden name.

He is listed as a guide along with Charles Martin in S.R. Stoddard’s Adirondacks, 1881.
