According to
Ancestry.com’s database of American Civil War Soldiers, the Frederick Goodrich listed as with the 115th NY Infantry that gathered at Halfmoon doesn’t make sense. He was 26, not 21, when he enlisted, and did not die but mustered out to a colored corps.
There is a Frederick Goodrich enlisted as a private in Company A, 12th Infantry Regiment, Regular Army. It is not clear what units this regiment took its men from. It did not fight a battle in early 1863 when he is supposed to have died, though soldiers died from other than battle.
