In 1910, Ernest C. Smith was a head of household on Francis Ave., Pittsfield, MA. He had been married 12 years. He had been born in NY, his parents in Massachusetts. He was a merchant who worked at a grocery, could read and write, and rented. With him were wife Ada (not too clear), his mother Catherine G. Smith, and boarder Asa S. Goodrich (q.v.)

E.G. Smith, 70, of Scotia Dies; Family Rites Set
Ernest Goodrich Smith, 70, of 230 Mohawk avenue, Scotia, died yesterday at Ellis Hospital after a short illness.
He was born in Greenwich. A resident of the Schenectady area for 50 years, he had resided in Scotia for the past four years.
Mr. Smith was a carpenter doing general construction work for various companies in the area. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America local 146.
Surviving Mr. Smith are his wife, Hazel Cath Smith; a daughter, Mrs. John Crisalle of Schenectady; a half-sister, Mrs. Melvin Mason of Gloversville; two grand-daughters, Mrs. Carl Johnson of Scotia and Mrs. Douglas Myer of Schenectady; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Rev. Franklin Wright of the Center Glenville Methodist Church will conduct funeral services at the convenience of the family at Baxter’s funeral home.
Burial will be at West Glenville Cemetery.
