Marked Dec. 19th, 1979: “Buchanan of Scotia Dies at 48 -- Harold A. Buchanan, 48, of Vley Road, Scotia, was stricken yesterday and died at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady, Mr. Buchanan was a lifelong area resident. He owned and operated Buchanan Major Appliance Service Center in Scotia for the last 10 years. He was a member of the Guan-Ho-Ha Fish and Game Club, the Scotia-Glenville Snowmobile Club, and the Snowdrifters of Duanesburg. Surviving are his widow, Margaret E. (Cath) Buchanan, his mother, Mrs. Edna Buchanan of Scotia; two sons, Bruce E. Buchanan of Scotia, and Bradley J. Buchanan of Ballston Spa; a daughter, Bonnie E. Buchanan of Scotia; two brothers, Kenneth D. Buchanan of Johnstown, and William A. Buchanan of Scotia; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.” Burial in Park Cemetery, Scotia, contributions to American Heart Association.36

Cath -- Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cath of Vley road, Scotia, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Margaret Eleanor Cath, to Harold A. Buchanan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Buchanan, also of Vley road. Miss Cath, a graduatge of Scotia high school, is employed by the Home Foods cafeteria. Mr. Buchanan, also a graduate of Scotia high school, is employed at the Burnt Hills Supply Co.. The wedding will be held Dec. 10.”36

Guests of honor were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Ostrander; Mrs. Edna Buchanan, Mr. Buchanan’s mother; and Miss Margaret Cath, Miss Helen Cath, Mrs. Hazel Smith, and Marion Carrano, Mrs. Buchanan’s aunts. Other guests included Mr. and Mrs William Buchanan, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Buchanan, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Baird, Mr. and Mrs. Marty Pagano, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Barbarulo, Mrs. Helen Baker and Charles Straight.
