In 1930 census, he was listed as 23 (questionable), and was living next to Stanley and Mary Smith on Hardin Road.

In the 1940 census, he was living on Harding Road (RFD #4) in rented property. He was 34, married, and listed his highest grade of school completed as 8th. He had lived n the same place on 4/1/35 (a question asked by the census). He was privately employed and had worked 26 weeks in 1939. He listed his income as $520. With him were Myrtle, age 32, finished 6th grade and not employed; daughter Margaret E., age 8, 2d grade; son Walter E., age 7, 1st grade; and son Harold Jr., age 3. 6

CATH - April 12, 1969, Harold (Jing) Cath, beloved husband of Myrtle Marsette of RD 4, Vley Road, Scotia, N.Y., father of Walter E., Harold E. Cath and Mrs. Harold Buchanan, all of Scotia, brother of Miss Ruth Cath of West Glenville, N.Y., and Miss Margaret Cath of Scotia, N.Y., Miss Helen Cath, Mrs. Hazel Smith and Mrs. Robert Carrano, all of Schenectady. Also survived by five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Mabee and Berning Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Ave., Scotia. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours Monday evening after 7 p.m. Interment, West Glenville Reformed Cemetery.

Gazette obit: Mrs. Myrtle Marsette Cath, 80, of Glen Avenue, Scotia, died yesterday at Ellis Hospital after a short illness. Mrs. Cath was born in Troy and lived in the Scotia area for 60 years. She was a sales clerk for 15 years at the former Joanne’s Gift Shop in Schenectady, retiring in 1973. Her husband was the late Harold Cath. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Buchanan of Ormond Beach, Fla.; two sons, Walter E. Cath of Ballston Spa and Harold E. Cath of Scotia; two brothers, Bud Marsette of Keene, NH and Jim Marsette of Los Angeles, Calif.; six grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren....Burial will be in the West Glenville Cemetery.”49
