Hand-dated Jan. 30, 1979: “Airman Cath, 24, Dies, Stationed in Germany Services will be held Thursday for Airman First Class Donald E. Cath II, 24, of 1029 University Place, who died last Friday at University Hospital in Erlangen, West Germany, after a sudden illness. Born in Schenectady, he had been serving as a weather specialist attached to the Seventh Weather Squadron at Katterbach Air Force Base. He was a 1972 graduate of Linton High School, and a 1975 graduate of Hudson Valley Community College. He entered the Air Force in August, 1976, undergoing basic training at Lackland AFB in Texas. He later attended weather specialist school at Chanute AFB in Illinois. Prior to going to Germany in Sept. 1978, he served at Pease AFB in New Hampshire. Mr. Cath was a member of the Second Reformed Church. Survivors include his mother and father, Donald E., Breatrice Graves Cath; two sisters, Mrs. Cheryl Bentley and Deborah E. Cath, both of Schenectady, a brother, Gregory A. Cath, with the U.S. Navy in San Diego, Calif.; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George E. Graves of Nova Scotia; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Helen M. Berry of Schenectady; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and one nephew....” Burial in Parkview Cemetery.
