Misc. Notes
Jos. Peck’s research and his age at 1880 census lean me toward 1862, rather than the 1861 on his stone.
In the 1900 federal census, he gave his birthdate as May 1862, his age as 38; he had been married 11 years. He was a farmer, could read and write, and owned his farm free of mortgage.
10In his father’s will, he received: “Sixth, I give and bequeath to Charles M. Peck, of Wilmington, Essex Co., N.Y., my fur coat (coon skin) reserving the right to Cornelius Peck of Jay, Essex Co., N.Y. using or wearing the same whenever he wishes.”

ROBBERS AT WORK
AROUND WILMINGTON
The home of Charles Peck at Witmington
was entered the other day.
Flour was taken from the barrel, a
piece of meat was also taken and a
$20 bill was taken from his pocketbook,
which was in back of the flour
barrel. There are heard rumors of
several other robberies in the same vicinity
lately, another one being the
house of Herbert Musgrove, (which is
unoccupied) some articles of clothing
being stolen. At different times articles
of furniture have been -stolen from
the camp ground.
