Lily Belle Peck

Lake Placid - Lily Belle Peck, 90, passed away, Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at the Uhlein Mercy Center, Lake Placid.

She was born April 3, 1914, in Wilmington, the daughter of George Irving Hardy Jr. and Paulina (William) Hardy.

Lily was a lifelong resident of the North Country, except for supporting the war effort during World War II, when she lived in Springfield, Mass., working in an airplane factory. After this she returned to this area and worked for several years at the Lake Placid Club.

On Dec. 27, 1944, she married Roy E. Peck. They traveled extensively and two of the highlights were their trips to Prince Edward Island and to Arizona.

Her husband and the following siblings predeceased her, Donald J. Hardy, Kitty Watson, Joyce Ormsby, Amos Hardy, Albert Hardy and Philip Hardy.

Lily loved the village of Upper Jay and was a member of the Upper Jay Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed membership in the Wilmington Pal Club. She loved her home, enjoyed gardening and having her family around. She also enjoyed her dogs and cats.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. We will miss her happy spirit and beautiful smile.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to High Peaks Hospice or Uihlein Mercy Center.
