Misc. Notes
She was the mother of Martha Graham and siblings. In 1855, she was living in Crown Point as the housekeeper for Henry Thrasher, 68 year old widower farmer from New Hampshire who had lived in CP for 25 years. Harriet listed herself as 42, born in Vermont, and married, though no husband was listed in the household.
187 The Thrasher family continued in Crown Point through the William Graham years, evidenced by articles in the Elizabethtown Post. There may be a further connection.
In 1860, she was living in Bridport, VT, with John Ducatt (sic) and Nancy M. Ducatt. She was 60, born in NY. They lived next to Lewis Ducutte (sic).
23In 1880, she was living in Brandon with daughter Martha and the Corey family. She was 68, a widow, and reported that she and her parents had been born in Vermont. She was listed as “mother-in-law”.
24Per research of Janet Decker, from the Franklin County Clerk’s Office in Malone, there was a transfer of land from Stephen C. Martin and Roxy R. Martin to Harriet Graham of Bridport, Addison County, Vermont. The notation was L. 63 / 491, year 1864. January 12, 1864, $250. 100 acres in the Town of Brandon “commencing at the lowest water edge of Stony Creek Pond and running thence northerly to a poplar about 100 rods from said Pond . . .in line between said lot and one owned by Jesse Corey . . . to take 80 rods east and 80 rods west from said tree.”
643The same land, L. 63/491, was transferred in 1880 from Harriet Graham of Crown Point to John & Nancy M. Dukett, January 31, 1880, for $250. The description was as above. It is not completely clear to me which of the parties is from Crown Point, it could have been either. However, all are in Brandon in 1880.
643 Son William Graham was prominent in Crown Point.
Interestingly, there are Duquettes buried in Town Line Cemetery in Bridport (see
FindAGrave.com). FindAGrave didn’t list a Graham, but it’s far from exhaustive.
She was double-counted in the 1880 census, living both in Brandon and Crown Point. In the Crown Point entry, she listed her place of birth as Vermont, but her parents’ places of birth were “unknown.”
24Forestdale Cemetery, Crown Point, transcription at Essex County Rootsweb site says “Wife of George Graham.”
