Crazy, crazy, now playing everywhere

Too much going on. No time to write. Ice. Power outages (not ours). Snow. Syracuse basketball. Haven’t even listened to the new Dar Williams yet. Joe Jackson’s “Cure for Gravity”: brilliant. Best writing about being a musician ever. Close second: “Don’t Sleep With Your Drummer,” Jen Sincero. Where is everybody? Daily Orange 100th Anniversary creating an interesting flurry of e-mail and rediscovered colleagues, and yet I look at a masthead from way back when and actually don’t even recognize some of the names of people who were on staff with me. Was I just that stoned? You know who rocks? Elvis Costello rocks. That’s who rocks.
Now I have to meet with a bunch of Japanese delegates. I always feel like an idiot at these things because I have trouble with their accents and I speak, of course, no Japanese. These people are doubtlessly vastly more brilliant than I am, and I end up communicating like a kindergartner. Should have stuck with the language thing, although German isn’t exactly a springboard to anything else. Always wish I had taken French.
Winona Ryder in today’s Post: Oh, baby. Shoplifting agrees with her.
